André Brink (29/05/1935 – 07/02/2015) foi um dos escritores contemporâneos sul-africanos mais reputados. Poeta, ensaísta, romancista e professor de inglês na Universidade da Cidade do Cabo, ganhou notoriedade nos anos sessenta por obras que denunciavam a injustiça do apartheid. Escreveu os seus livros na língua afrikaans, mas com a censura do governo sul-africano, começou a escrever simultaneamente em inglês, obtendo aclamação internacional.
