André Brink
André Brink nasceu em 1935 na África do Sul, e é um dos autores sul-africanos mais reputados da actualidade. Poeta, ensaísta, romancista e professor de inglês na Universidade da Cidade do Cabo, ganhou notoriedade nos anos sessenta por obras que denunciavam a injustiça do apartheid. Escreve os seus livros na língua afrikaans, mas com a censura do governo sul-africano, começou a escrever simultaneamente em inglês, obtendo aclamação internacional.
